Life Outside Fame
Frank Edwards was born and grew up in Enugu State, Nigeria. He has six siblings and has remained incredibly private about them over the course of his musical career. At the age of 10, Frank started to sing, and his dad taught him how to place the piano. Frank came from humble beginnings and was said to have spent a lot of his spare time helping his mother sell food at the local market when he was young, especially whenever he was on school holidays. When he was a teenager, Frank went through the process of becoming a born-again Christian.
Prior to deciding on a career in music, Frank Edwards dreamed of becoming a pilot. However, this changed as he started getting to know his pastor, Chris Oyakhilome, from the Christ Embassy Church. Pastor Oyakhilome inspired Frank to start singing, join the church choir, and later join the church music team. His mother was also incredibly supportive of Frank’s musical abilities and even saved up to buy him studio equipment so he could start recording his own songs.
Currently, Frank is still a member of Christ Embassy Church. He is also a part of the LoveWorld Music Ministry along with several other gospel musicians. Since his debut, Frank has not shared much of his personal life, such as information about his family, in order to respect their privacy. In an interview, he mentioned that though he did plan on getting married eventually, he found it difficult to know whether he was truly connecting with someone due to his career in the limelight.
Career in Music
In 2008, Frank Edwards released his debut album, ‘The Definition.’ Originally, the 14-track album had just been for himself; however, it eventually found its way to Pastor Oyakhilome‘s desk who listened to it and absolutely loved it. Oyakhilome took it upon himself to promote Frank’s music and continuously invited him to perform and sing live at church services.
In 2010, Edwards released his second album, ‘Angels on the Runway,’ and released his third album, ‘Unlimited’ the year after that. Frank’s fourth album, ‘Tagjam’ was also released in 2o11. In 2016 Frank started his own record label, called Rocktown Records. Frank’s first release on the label was his 2016 release of ‘Frankincense,’ which was also an incredible mark on his career. The album featured Micah Stampley and Nathaniel Bassey and managed to top Beyonce‘s ‘Lemonade’ album on iTunes charts, just a few hours after it was released.
2016 was also the year in which Edwards was able to collaborate with Don Moen, a famous American gospel artist, on his album ‘Grace.’ He explained that their meeting felt like fate, as Frank had been invited to a program that was being ministered by Moen. There, the singers were able to introduce themselves to one another and decided to do a collaboration. They have since done a multiple collabs together including ‘You Alone Are God,’ ‘You are Holy,’ ‘Eze Ndi Eze’ and a couple others.
In 2017, Frank released ‘Born in July’ and ‘Unlimited – Verse 1.’ In 2018, he released ‘I’m Supernatural,’ ‘In Love With You’ and ‘Unlimited – Verse 2.’ Frank also released an album for the Body of Christ church and collaborated with Nathaniel Bassey and Jeanine Zoe on some of the songs he released that year. Frank then released a 2019 version of ‘Born in July,’ before releasing ‘Believers Anthem’ and ‘No One Like You’ in 2020.
To this day, Frank continues to produce and release new music and has risen to be one of the most well-known gospel singers in Nigeria. Many of Frank’s songs are played in churches of a variety of denominations throughout Nigeria, as well as in churches and homes world-wide. He has also since signed on several gospel artists to his label such as Gil Joe, Nkay, Soltune, King BAS, and more.

Edwards expressed that he felt as though God was behind his great success and that he would continue to do his best and make music to honour Him.
