Jamie Grace
Jamie Grace Harper, known professionally as Jamie Grace, is a truly inspirational artist in the Christian Music scene. Diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome, OCD, ADHD and anxiety at a young age, Jamie has never been held back by her illnesses and took her dreams into her own hands by pursuing a career in the music industry.
And what a career it has been! Jamie has risen in popularity to the point where she is now the proud holder of the title ‘two time Grammy-nominated’, an incredible achievement for any artist in the music industry.
Jamie Grace Harper, from Simple Origins
Jamie Grace was born Jamie Grace Harper and is the youngest daughter to Bishop James Harper and Pastor Mona Harper. Jamie grew up singing and playing instruments both at church and at home with her older sister Morgan.
Grace was home schooled with her sister, under the guidance of their parents, while also practicing and expanding their musical skills. Keen to share her interests and her love of Christianity and music, she created a YouTube account and began posting videos of her songs online in 2016.
Shortly after, her videos received recognition from Audio Adrenaline‘s Mark Stuart and David Mullen and eventually landed her a job as a singer and actress for the television show iShine Knect. This opportunity led to a nation wide wide tour and gained her recognition as an emerging artist in the Christian music industry. In 2010, TobyMac signed her to his record label Gotee Records, where her musical style developed.
A Debut EP Featuring TobyMac
Grace’s debut EP, Hold Me, featuring TobyMac and tailored by his guidance, was released by the label on February 22, 2011. Jamie released the title track to the album at the same time as a single, a very smart decision as it soon become one of the most added singles to Christian Hit Radio stations. Her debut album, One Song at a Time, was released in 2011, followed by her second EP, Christmas Together, later that year.
Both albums were received positively by audience and critics alike, solidifying Jamie as a significant figure in the up and coming Christian music scene.
After the release of her first two albums, Grace was featured as a main artist and speaker in the Revolve Tour by Women of Faith alongside artists such as Britt Nicole, Group 1 Crew and Hawk Nelson.
This was an impressive achievement for a relatively new artist, and was followed up in 2011 when Jesus Freak Hideout announced that “Hold Me,” her first single, had reached the No. 1 spot at CHR. This was the first real indicator of the level of success that was to come for Jamie Grace.
Her second studio album, Ready to Fly, produced by Christopher Stevens and David Garcia, was released in 2014. The second single from this album was the song “Fighter”, an inspiring piece about those who have struggled but didn’t give up, and a song which would be known as one of Jamie’s breakout hits.
In August 2016, Jamie Grace and her sister, fellow artist Morgan Harper Nichols, announced their departure from Gotee Records, followed soon after by a new release for Jamie. The single, “Party Like a Princess” was released to major music streaming services such as Spotify and even Instagram, as a promotional single for both her 25th birthday and her upcoming third studio album.
In February 2017, Grace announced that her new album would be delayed to allow Grace to address issues around her mother’s health. This decision was received positively by her fans who wished her family well during this hiatus.
